·      Who is Yun Gui Hanfu?

We are a London-based small business who wants to share the experience of traditional Chinese culture and crafts with our customers. Whether it's providing a sense of home to international students, vamping up their graduation ceremony attires; introducing the rich history of traditional Chinese crafts techniques to locals, adding a touch of elegance to their busy modern life; or reconnecting British Chinese young people to their cultural heritage.

We sells accessories inspired by traditional Chinese aesthetics, and pieces of Hanfu clothing or Hanfu style clothing inspired by the historical clothing worn by the Han Chinese in imperial China. We also want to bring attention to Chinese intangible cultural heritage crafts techniques, including 缠花, 绒花 and 螺钿. Some of which were struggling to survive due to the lack of knowledge of the incredible craftsmanship involved and the magnificent historical values they hold. Sign up to our newsletter to stay in the loop and get notifications of our new blogs on these techniques!

·      Our roots

Yun Gui Hanfu started as a student enterprise in the Old Spitalfields Market in Shoreditch in 2021. Our funders Tao, Meiqing, and Muyu are all Chinese culture lovers and Hanfu enthusiasts. We first met each other through an interview as part of Tao’s dissertation project and found out we had a common vision: “We want to start something filled with clothing and accessories that has its roots in rich history, but is refilled with young imagination and could fit in with our modern wardrobe.” This idea brought us together, and Yun Gui Hanfu was born in the vibrant and diverse scene in Shoreditch.

·      Development and media coverage

Since established in 2021, Yun Gui Hanfu grew steadily. We traded regularly at the Old Spitalfields Market, one of the biggest markets in London. We collaborated with another young vintage brand Gong Nong Bing Vintage and held two successful pop-up stores in the heart of London. We tried out other pop-up store set ups as well.

Our small steps also brought media attention. We were interviewed and featured in more than 10 local, Asian held independent media, and also had collaborations with Chinese students-led TikTok pages with millions of followers online. The story of Yun Gui was trending at #3 for searches on Chinese social media Weibo when it first came out in a media article by Zi’Niu News.

·      Us today

With all the development and attempts to explore different trading methods, we never stopped staying true to our original cause: to bring Chinese culture to the diverse cultural scene in the UK for local people, and to provide accessible cultural services for other Chinese living in the UK. We now provide most of our services online, and ships to all addresses in the UK.
